Opis stanowiska
We are currently developing a 50 to 100+W commercial blue laser product that will focus to a small point and will be the first in the industry with a narrow wavelength band. In order to scale the optical power, we use geometric, polarization and wavelength-based beam combining techniques. To minimize the focus spot size of the beam, we designed the laser with a specialized optical system that requires the optics to be positioned to sub-micron accuracy.
We’re looking for talented people with lab experience, who can communicate well and work as part of a team to reach these goals.
Obowiązki osoby zatrudnionej
- Bring ideas from concept to production using an understanding of physics, engineering, and creativity
- Understand methods used to position lenses in front of a laser diode, make improvements, and adapt methodologies to the needs of the product
- Design and construct laboratory optical measurement stations. Use these setups to make measurements, as well as training others to do so. Report outcome of measurements verbally and in writing
- Design and construct instruments to characterize optical and mechanical laser performance
- Initiate contact with vendors to select the best products, as well as to troubleshoot performance
- Understand applications for laser products, such as materials processing, in order to optimize performance
Wymagania
- PhD, ABD (PhD unfinished), current PhD candidate or candidates with other outstanding achievements with a similar level of education preferred in one of the following fields: physics, experimental physics, applied physics, technical physics, optoelectronics, optics, engineering physics, photonics, laser physics, or a related field
- Work experience: 2-3 years in R&D laboratory (or equivalent) preferred. (Excludes internships and research performed during and before Master’s)
- Ability to familiarize oneself quickly with an idea in physics or engineering and apply it, e.g., properties of adhesives relevant to an application
- Work both independently and on a team
- Ability to design basic parts for fixtures or components in CAD software
- Communicate ideas through writing, research an open-ended topic to form basic conclusions
- Possess a high level of analytical thinking
- Language: Ability to communicate clearly in both spoken and written English language. Preference to be able to communicate in Polish
